(April 29, 2024) The next phase of the Port of Albany Maritime Infrastructure Investment Project is set to begin next week with the replacement of rail tracks across Church Street (near the intersection with Boat Street) at the northern entrance to the Port.

Port of Albany awarded $9.9M in funding for rail and maritime infrastructure improvements from NYS DOT

(April 10, 2024) The Albany Port District Commission was recently awarded a $9.9 million grant from NYS Department of Transportation Passenger and Freight Rail Assistance Program (PFRAP) for upgrades to heavy rail and on-dock wharf system (the concrete support) at the Port’s existing maritime terminal.

Port of Albany releases RFI as part of evaluating transition to Zero-Emission Fleet

(April 3, 2024) The Albany Port District Commission (APDC) is currently conducting a cost and feasibility assessment for the purpose of transitioning the current fleet equipment to zero-emission equipment as part of the EPA Clean Ports Initiative. A Request For Information (RFI) was released on March 20, 2024 to gather product and pricing information on zero- emission heavy equipment.

While some may know that Albany has deep roots in the founding history of the United States (2024 was Albany’s 400th anniversary of its founding as Fort Orange), people might not realize that this year (2025), the Port of Albany will be celebrating 100 years!

The largest inland port in the northeast, the Port of Albany is located only 124 nautical miles north of the Battery in New York Harbor, on both the east and west sides of the Hudson River and has 450 acres in four municipalities – the city of Albany, the city of Rensselaer, the town of Bethlehem, and the town of East Greenbush.
